Fall Films, Art, Performance and more in Downtown Harrisonburg

What’s going on over the next few days /weeks in downtown?
      Court Square Theater will play an important role in your holiday experiences… Harrisonburg’s International Festival is coming up and the first Sunday Soup of the season will be held at Court Square Theater this month.
      Participants will be creating “mini-parks” or terrariums at Art in the Park and Artery, a local live painting troupe, will help us create a collaborative painting based on environmental themes.
      Looking forward to October’s First Fridays Downtown, the entries from the Parklet Project will take over downtown on the evening of October 4 from 5-8pm.

Valley Fourth Celebrates Full Day of Activities

Valley Fourth, Harrisonburg’s annual Independence Day celebration, returns for its twelfth year with a full day of activities on Thursday, July 4, from 8:30 am to 9:30 pm in downtown Harrisonburg.

The festivities will begin at 8:30 am with the Valley Fourth Run, a charity race that begins at the Turner Pavilion and goes through the heart of downtown. Runners can pick their distance and one of four charities they wish to support, one of which is The Explore More Discovery Museum (Harrisonburg Children’s Museum. (more…)

Rocktown Bites! Downtown Food Tours Return

rocktown bitesRocktown Bites! Downtown Food Tours return for the summer of 2013. The tours offer residents and visitors alike the opportunity for a behind-the-scenes experience of some of downtown Harrisonburg’s most popular and diverse eateries.

Originally created by Harrisonburg resident Kirsten Parmer, Rocktown Bites! was founded in 2012 and offered an initial season of tours last year. The Rocktown Bites! team for 2013 has expanded to welcome some new organizers and tour guides – local food enthusiasts Regina Hissong, Erin Young, and Shami Gravatt.
