Mary Ethel Thumma Broaddus

Mary dropped out of Madison College after one year to raise her son John (1/3/70) and help her husband and classmate, Jack, to continue his education. She worked for a savings and loan bank as a mortgage officer for six years while continuing to take classes. After banking, she bought and operated a needlework shop with a friend. She has also done many volunteer projects for the local public television station. Since "retiring," she has traveled a great deal with Jack and now spends her free time supervising the building of their future retirement home at Smith Mountain Lake, VA. She enjoys reading, painting, and water skiing.
