Carol Sue Hummel
Carol received her B.S. in Nursing at the UVA and practiced nursing for ten years. She and her husband Glenn have managed their own financial planning company for the past 20 years and co-produced the TV show MoneyWi$e for four years. In Hawaii, she worked with dolphins, teaching them sign language. Carol is a wildlife transporter for the Wildlife Rescue League, Raptor Conservancy, and Wildlife Center of VA.
Carol & Glenn's son Ryan (2/20/89) was diagnosed with Aspergers, a high functioning form of autism. Carol was appointed to the Fauquier Co SEAC (Special Educaiton Parent Advisory Committee) and Chairperson for the Transition Committee. She helped found the Fauquier Autism Resource Group and was a long time volunteer for Northern VA CHADD (Children and Adults with ADHD). With SEAC she has given numerous experiential workshops to students to help them understand ADHD, Learning Disabilities and Autism. Ryan committed suicide in April at the age of 19. His fixed thinking from his Aspergers kept him from being able to handle his first broken heart. He had gone through so much in his short life and still managed to become an amazing young man. He was a computer whiz, artistic, and a honor roll student.
