Carroll Ellis Smith

Carroll and his wife Gretchen have, between them, five daughters Jacqui (6/6/66), Kim (4/14/66), Amy (2/25/68), Beth (11/14/69), and Sherri (5/8/75), three of whom are married. Carroll has worked with the Richmond Fire and Emergency Services for 24 and 1/2 years, serving as Lieutenant for twelve years. During that time, he has been a member of the Richmond Fire River Rescue and Dive Team, as well as being a State Fire Instructor, CPR Instructor, an Advance First Aid Instructor, and an EMT. For all of his courageous service, Carroll has received numerous awards including Firefighter of the Year two times. He is a Past-President of the Jaycees and was recognized as Big Brother of the Year by the Big Brothers of Richmond. Somehow, Carroll finds time to play softball for the fire department and his church. He writes that in his spare time, he does a lot of hunting and carpentry work.
