Ronald Lee Smith (Beefy)

After spending time at JMU and the USAF in the earlier 70's, I returned to Harrisonburg and became a computer guy for the City of Hburg. My career moved along and I ended up in Chville where I attended UVA, then Richmond, on to Va. Beach and then ended up in New Jersey for seven years. We had two sons, Josh and Tyler in NJ and then transferred from "Yankee Land" to Baton Rouge, LA where we enjoyed the deep south style and pace of living. After 4 years in LA I returned to NJ with Digital Equipment Corp. (2nd largest computer Co. at the time) only to be "laid-off" after 11 years.
I returned to Richmond and worked for several different IT companies in the Northern Va. area for the next six years. When I hit 50, I was too old for the IT business and made a career change to Real Estate in 2003. I married my lifelong love, Ruth, in 1999 and we live in Woodbridge, on the Occoquan River. At this point in time, my parents are still living in Harrisonburg at the Mennonite Retirement Village so we do get back to "The Burg" regularly.
With our combined families, we have four kids, 3 grandbabies and one daughter in-law. My oldest son Josh, is in the Army (close by at Ft. Belvoir) and has served in Iraq on two deployments. Ruth and I enjoy traveling and have been to many places in the west in the US and a couple of European trips. I still enjoy sports, particularly football, and am an avid UVA season ticket holder.
Presently, we are looking to buy land on the water in the "Northern Neck" which is the area between the Potomac and Rappahanock Rivers for our retirement. That should keep us close to our "babies".
