Congratulations area TSA students
Many area residents may not know about the Technology Student Association (TSA) program in our schools, nor the important benefits these students bring to our community and society at large. TSA members in our local middle and high schools focus on Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics concepts, (STEM Science), as well as leadership, and presentation skills — all essential to everyone’s future.
We congratulate these TSA Valley Region chapters for their excellent performance at the State competitions for 2011. The following clubs are the top three state award winners in our region’s middle and high schools:
High Schools:
* Turner Ashby High School ~ 1st
* Sherando High School ~ 2nd
* Wilson High School ~ 3rd
Middle School
* Wilber Pence Middle School ~ 1st
* Stuarts Draft Middle School ~ 2nd
* Wilson Middle School ~ 3rd
Through TSA’s regional, state, and national competitions, our students challenge themselves in over sixty different categories in middle and high school. The above six schools have performed and exhibited true excellence in our region and school systems throughout the Commenwealth of Virginia.
The Appleseeds Foundation recognizes the Technology Student Association (TSA) as an essential component in the education of our young people. The individuals who participate in the TSA programs are our link to a brighter future for America.
In 2008, the Appleseeds Foundations established the Appleseeds Technology Awards to promote technology learning in our local public schools — to award cash prizes to those school chapters of TSA in the Valley Region who show the best performance at the Virginia State Technosphere conference. Since establishing this program, The Appleseeds Technology Awards has awarded more than $25,000 in grants to the TSA chapters in our local schools.
We take great pleasure and pride in congratulating all our local students and their TSA chapters on this year’s accomplishments! We also send our best wishes to those who will be competing at the upcoming Blue Ridge area regional competitions in March of 2012, and the Virginia Technosphere at the Richmond Convention Center in May of 2012.
We urge all families to learn about and support our TSA programs, and students.
