Prominent Harrisonburg businessman Bob Wade, 66, has passed away unexpectedly Sunday morning, November 20, 2011, at his home in Mount Crawford.
IF you drive a Lincoln or a Subaru, chances are, you know Bob Wade. Few people in the region have not been touched by Bob Wade, either through his auto dealership or his support for the James Madison University athletics department. Local businessmen Zane Showker and John “Jack” McNelis established Bob Wade Lincoln, downtown, in the early 1980s. Wade eventually moved the business to its current South Main location, added Subaru and Suziki, and turned it into on of the areas most successful auto dealerships.
Wade’s success in business allowed him to become a supporter of James Madison University athletics. Bob and wife Cathy were parents to son, John Wade, who joined his father’s business after a successful career of 11 seasons in the National Football League.
